Carnegie Hall | 57th Street and Seventh Avenue, New York City
Two of the world’s most powerful musical languages — side by side.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In one of the country’s oldest concert halls, a new epoch in music begins!
The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is forging together the spiritual essence of 5,000 years of Chinese musical tradition with the power and passion of the Western symphony orchestra.
The performers and composers of the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra have honed their skills over six years of international tours with Shen Yun Performing Arts, selling out shows across the globe, including a sold out season at New York’s very own Lincoln Center in 2012.
Now, their unique sound comes to Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium. Brand new compositions inspired by the melodies of China—from the harsh plains of Mongolia to the soaring peaks of Tibet—brought to life through the harmony and technical precision of the symphony, will be the gateway to a musical event unlike anything audiences have experienced before.
The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will round out the concert with a nod to some of the greatest titans of Western music: Beethoven’s “Egmont” Overture, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Pro-cession of the Nobles from “Mlada” Suite, and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets.
