Italian Language Inter-Cultural Alliance 8th Cultural Event
Back to Category Print this page

From the days of Marco Polo, Italy has been delighted to engage in a cultural exchange with Asia. In continuing with this tradition, ILICA (Italian Language Inter-Cultural Alliance) is happy to celebrate its 8th Anniversary by inviting AsianInNY to participate in the festivities on Oct 26th at the Lighthouse of Chelsea Piers and to offer two Asian students to study in Siena Italy for one month including all housing, flights and tuition.

ILICA 2012 Scholarship Recipients (Jenifer Ip & Daisy Tang)

This past summer ILICA and UNISTRASI (the University for Foreign Students in Siena) welcomed Jennifer Ip and Daisy Tang to Siena Italy in Aug 2012. They just returned from Italy and both attended the event on the stage to speak in Italian about their summer experience. Alice Moy was 2011’s recipient of the University’s scholarship and she was also invited by AsianInNY to share her experience again at the 8th ILICA Cultural Event.

Guests attended 10/26 ILICA Cultural Event including: Natalia Quintavalle (Consul General of Italy in New York), Salvatore Cassano (New York City Fire Commissioner), Claudio Bozzo (President of Italy-America Chamber of Commerce), Daniel Nigro (Chief of New York City Fire Department), Vincent Tummino (President of International Columbia Association), Joseph Sciame (President of Major Italian American Organizations and chair of the St. John’s University Italian Culture Center), Anthony J. Tamburri (Dean of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of CUNY), and Thomas Chang (Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau of New York).

AsianInNY is New York’s leader in Asian social networking and multi-cultural sharing platform. ILICA an Italian American Foundation is a renaissance in strengthening the identity of the Italian language and culture. With this, AsianInNY has, once again, developed a cultural experience that focuses on the exchange of two cultures – Italians and Asians.

Serving as a complimentary instrument towards ‘Inter-culutral Alliance’, ILICA and UNISTRASI have been offering Asian students a one month scholarship (including housing, round trip flights and one month Italian classes) to members of AsianInNY to learn the Italian culture and language in Siena, Italy for the last 2 years. Vincenzo Marra, the President of ILICA, also attended AsianInNY’s 3rd Annual Moon Festival Event to support the Asian artists, designers and musicians.
