We are currently seeking AVP of Advertising and Insights, with a passion for retail that is eager to make a difference.
Role:
• Report to the Sr. Vice President, Brand and Marketing
• Take the lead in creating and managing the advertising strategy to include plans for regions (dma’s) and individual stores.
• Analyze the cost of those opportunities and spend in relation to demographics, psychographics, macro trends, competition, traffic increases and opportunities.
• Lead and Manage the vendor co-op plan to ensure it is being spent in accordance with vendor’s rules and that we are on budget, working closely with the merchants and vendors.
• Manage all print, radio and TV advertising initiatives, working closely with internal and external partners.
• Manage two direct reports
• Strict management of the overall marketing budget, working closely with finance and marketing team.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the performance of vendor marketing and advertising initiatives to determine effectiveness in terms of traffic, brand awareness, and sales –by region and by store
• Deliver performance analytics to the company and to vendors.
• Set metrics, analyze performance and identify key earnings to be leveraged in future plans and measured against business objectives
• Analyze changes in consumer traffic, conversion of traffic to sales, effect of marketing on loyalty, promotional analysis, and overall return on marketing investment.
• Manage the advertising plan to maximize the effectiveness of our reach and spend, driving traffic and sales to all stores
• Manage and guide the advertising agency and media buying groups, nurturing our relationship with them and ensuring we are on strategy and on plan
• Manage and maintain the overall marketing and vendor budget, ensuring that we are on budget and on plan
• Understand the positioning and strategies of all major vendors. Tailor existing programs and/or develop new programs that enable us to achieve our brand and company goals by vendor
• Achieve the raising and allocation of the budgeted amount of vendor paid initiatives, ensuring that the company does not spend any dollars of its own on vendor designated marketing initiatives
• Allocate all vendor funds throughout marketing to maximize sales in order to further grow vendor marketing dollars
• Work with merchandising, operations, and brand teams to ensure that advertising programs are being strategically and flawlessly executed at retail and beyond. Be innovative.
• Develop the annual strategic plan for vendor and advertising spend, working closely with the SVP, Brand and Marketing.
• Work with merchandising team and finance to ensure we determine the proper co-op goals by vendor
• Work cross functionally to understand merchants objectives and to educate other teams on brand and marketing objectives/initiatives
• Communicate to the vendors the brand strategy of Modell’s and develop promotions and innovative opportunities that deliver on our brand strategy, meet the needs of vendors, and maximize the budget
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with key vendors (Nike, Adidas, Columbia, Under Armour, MLB, NFL, Reebok, etc.) in order to create and flawlessly deliver innovative promotions and advertising programs that deliver on sales, brand and strategic goals
• Develop strong relationships with all DM’s.
• Develop best practices and knowledge sharing across vendors and partners
• Lead projects relating to vendor and advertising initiatives and contribute to overall marketing initiatives.
Authority:
1. Negotiate all vendor marketing dollars with vendors.
2. Give presentations on the effectiveness of advertising dollars to vendors and the merchandising teams.
3. Allocate the vendor and advertising dollars in order to maximize traffic and sales.
4. Manage and guide the media buying agency to attain the most cost effective buys for our target and our brand strategy –by region and by store.
5. Coach and develop direct report(s), providing clear direction and strong leadership.
6. Provide advertising, media, and creative agencies with strategic and corporate direction, maximizing our investment.
Accountabilities:
1. Ensure that the marketing budget is always coming in on plan, monthly and yearly.
2. Maximize sales and traffic through strategic allocation of advertising and vendor marketing dollars – by region and by store

5. Achieve collecting/allocating the planned and budgeted amount of vendor marketing dollars.
