Charles A. Dana Discovery Center
(located inside the Park on 110th St btwn Fifth and Lenox Aves)
Join Harlem’s own Forces of Nature Dance Theatre Company for an extra-festive performance of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Co-presented by the Museum for African Art.
Looking for a free, after-work pick-me-up that offers stimulating conversation in a serene green setting instead of the crowded bars or restaurants of New York City? Join us for a fresh alternative to the tired old happy hour scene and an insider’s view of Central Park at the Harlem Meer Social Hour, the Central Park Conservancy’s monthly series for adults. Year-round, one Thursday each month, the Conservancy hosts a different program from 6:30pm to 8pm on a seasonal or interesting topic.
Since the series began in 2007, Social Hour programs have included nature walks, composting workshops, live Jazz music, seasonal cooking demonstrations, book readings and signings, discussion panels with landscape architects and Park historians, botanical art workshops, stargazing, canoeing, dance performances, film screenings, wild mushroom programs, and more, facilitated by both in-house Conservancy experts and partnering cultural institutions along the Park’s perimeter.
Free. No advance registration. For ages 18+.
