Through August 11, 2013
Museum of Natural History
Central Park West at 79th Street, New York, NY 10024
In the new exhibition “Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture”, the American Museum of Natural History will be exploring the complex and intricate food system that brings what we eat from farm to fork. This exhibition will feature a vertical hydroponic farm, daily tastings in a working kitchen, and also highlight numerous methods growers currently use and discuss potential new growing techniques throughout the world, ranging from test-tube meat grown from animal stem cells to farms planted in skyscrapers. Our Global Kitchen will allow visitors to experience the intersection of food, nature, culture, health, and history.
Presented with Whole Foods Market, our working kitchen will feature daily samplings (Monday–Friday, 12:30–5:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–5:30 pm) and activities ranging from taste tests to demonstrations of cooking methods, as well as guests including local farmers and chefs. The theme of the kitchen will change every two weeks.
