The Taiwanese American Association of New York (TAA-NY) is proud to present a concert featuring special guest artist Chin-Lin Chen in memory of the 228 Incident and White Terror period in Taiwan.
Ms. Chen, daughter of a White Terror victim herself, is a pianist trained in Vienna, Austria, at the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts. In 2011, she participated in a concert celebrating the 100th aniversary of the R.O.C. Taiwan together with the Sun Taipei Philharmonic. We are delighted that for the 228 memorial concert, Ms. Chen will be performing Robert Schumann’s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp minor, op. 11.
Rounding out the evening’s program will be performances of several Taiwanese folk songs by the TAA-NY chorus, as well as a rendition of Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor, op. 60, by NYC Taiwanese musicians Winnie Yang (piano), Kevin Shue (violin), Tony Huang (viola), and Oliver Hsu (cello).
