The New Ohio Theatre
154 Christopher Street
Written by one of Europe’s most celebrated living playwrights, Roland Schimmelpfennig (Arabian Night, Peggy Pickit Sees the Face of God), and presented here by The Play Company, The Golden Dragon makes its New York debut under the direction of Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (These Seven Sicknesses), acclaimed for his immersive and whimsical invitation-only theater company, Exit Pursued by a Bear.
Lives collide in a tiny Asian take-out when a kitchen worker’s tooth winds up in someone’s soup. Darkly hilarious and intimately global, The Golden Dragon follows the effects of a botched extraction as they careen through the restaurant and out into the world, linking the stories of immigrant chefs, flight attendants, shop owners and sex slaves. Five actors play a kaleidoscope of characters in this surreal portrait of human connection and migration.
