We invite you to join us for our last concert series of the season at our him at St. Paul’s German Church (our season finale concert on June 1st will be at Symphony Space). Maestro Matthew Aubin takes the podium in the first half to lead the orchestra in the premiere of TCS composer Ben Brody’s new work “Drones the peaceful kind” in which Brody draws attention to the musical definition of the word “drone” in an effort to counter the frequent use of the word in the context of war and violence (“drone program”) in recent times. In Friday’s concert, Amanda Lo and Oliver Hsu are the featured soloists of the evening, performing Brahms’ Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102; on Saturday, Allyson Clark will give a rendition of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61. In the second half, Maestro Mark Seto leads the orchestra in performances of Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D major, K. 385 (more commonly known as the “Haffner” Symphony), and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Op. 25 (the “Classical” Symphony).
