New York City
Immigrant Heritage Week, established by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in 2004, celebrates the histories and contributions of New York City’s diverse immigrant communities. This year, Immigrant Heritage week, celebrated from April 17 to April 23 marks the 10th annual week long celebration.
Throughout the week, a rich collection of cultural activities including a special program of community-based interactive and informational presentations on Ellis and Liberty Islands from the National Park Services will promote and reflect the diversity of the immigrant communities in our City.
American Dreamer Awards – The awards honor individuals or organizations that have improved the lives of immigrants and their communities. Over 100 nominations were received this year. Winners will be announced at the Immigrant Heritage Week kick-off breakfast on April 17th.
