Naoki Nakayama BIO:
Images being visualized take shape in your mind. I paint precisely because my own cannot be expressed in words, and I hope to draw the chaotic images in my mind. My paintings do not begin as concepts, but rather develop them once the meaning has been distilled from the completed work. However, I aim to give my works the feeling of poison turned to medicine, and I hope to master my use of illusions to this end.
I count Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, and Makoto Aida among my influences. I have arrived at my method of painting with acrylics after trying my hand at installations and other art forms at the Tokyo University of the Arts; doubtless I will explore other kinds as I develop as an artist.
