Technicolor New York is expanding. The leading provider of Post Production Services is looking to add a “Theatre Projectionist” to its busy West Village Facility
The successful candidate will compliment and contribute to our existing team of talented technicians. All candidates must have prior experience and a strong background in Film and Digital Projection.

• The Projectionist is responsible for ensuring that the projectors and all ancillary/support equipment is maintained to high standard, including, but, not limited to Lenses, Changing Bulbs, Adjusting Filters, Alignments, Convergence, Screen, Projectors & Sound).
• When film is received from the Lab, the projectionist must check its condition and makes up the program.
• Responsible for checking the screen ratio (Academy, widescreen or Cinemascope) and sound system (analogue, SRD, SDDS, DTS) employed on the film and ensures that the correct lens and masking plate are on the projector and that the screen masking has been set accordingly.
• The projectionist is also in charge of cinema lighting, heating and ventilation and other electrical and mechanical equipment that it is functioning correctly and if not, the projectionist must report the problem to the Engineering department.
• Must also maintain a clean projection booth free of clutter or empty boxes or film cans.
• Projectionist is responsible for keeping all lens and port windows clean at all times
• While the film is running, must maintain a careful eye and ear to ensure that the picture remains in focus, in rack, that the film is not scratched and that the sound is maintained at the correct level and is not distorted.
• The projectionist must keep up to date with the latest technical developments relating to the cinema / theatres. As higher resolution images become possible and the equipment more affordable, digital cinema will become increasingly common.
• As a representative of the company maintaining a professional decorum with both internal and external customer is key to assuring a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Experience:
• Must be familiar with Digital Cinema and how to operate a DI projector and calibrate color temperature and light levels in all projection rooms.
• Must be familiar with the operation of DA 88 and DV 40 audio playback systems and any other equipment in the projection booth.
