Position Description:

The Enterprise Architect will work as a member of an integrated team in the definition and deployment of enterprise solutions for Scholastic. This individual will provide technology solution leadership to ensure that the enterprise solution design, implementation, rollout and testing meet the business requirements with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and on time delivery.

This individual will be a key member in defining the technology vision and ensuring alignment to the vision throughout various project implementations. The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for ensuring that common and consistent solutions are deployed across Scholastic solving the customer’s business problems from inception through execution.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of architectural strategies, policies, and standards that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise.
• Perform as an enterprise solution lead on IT projects, leading the architectural solutions and compliance.
• Provide expertise and leadership to develop overall architecture for all layers of a solution which might span business process, organizations, systems, hardware, operating systems, applications and networking environments, as well as platforms.
• Engage on projects to ensure the overall integrity of the enterprise solutions throughout the projects lifecycle.
• Be a key resource to various project deployment teams ensuring solutions are crafted in accordance with technical constraints, architectural consistency, standards, and business needs.
• Promote the usage of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from business and IT strategies.
• Establish a framework for creating and driving usage of a library or repository of reusable components that developers would use to improve time to market and reduce redundant coding efforts.

Qualifications:
o 10+ years of experience in designing and deploying Enterprise Solutions.
o Significant experience with IT architectural design and strategy in developing large scale enterprise business solutions.
o Demonstrated experience in solution design and delivery that involved multiple and complex requirements that span geography, infrastructure, standards, systems, platforms, and architectural approaches.
o Ability to operate in a heterogeneous systems environment involving multiple types of platforms, databases, tools, and both packaged and homegrown applications.
o Broad knowledge of IT trends and best practices.
o Proven ability to make decisions and recommendations on technology strategies.
o Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated interaction at all levels of an organization.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to translate technical details to business users and executives.
o Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal level of supervision in a highly matrixed environment.
o Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Master’s Degree a plus.
o Experience with Oracle, JD Edwards and/or Peoplesoft would be a plus.
