On May 3rd, the Japanese Government (Headquarter for Abduction Issue, Cabinet Office) will hold Symposium and Panel Display at the Japan Society on the issue of abduction by North Korea, as follows.
Symposium: 4pm-6pm @Auditorium
Panel Display: 10am-7pm @Murase-Room
At the Symposium, with the participation of Minister of State for Abduction Issue, Mr. Keiji Furuya, and family members of abductees, the Japanese Government will make its advocacy efforts on the issue of abduction to the UN community and to the broad public in NY, and make a sincere appeal for the resolution of this issue. From the UN side, OHCHR will explain on how the UN deals with the North Korean human rights situations.
The issue of abduction by North Korea is a very important issue for current Abe administration, and Mission of Japan to the UN is fully cooperating with the Cabinet Office for the success of this event.
