36th Street to Christopher Street
The first March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to illness, violence and neglect.
The March is a celebration of our lives and our community.
NYC Pride recognizes outstanding achievement and acknowledges the effort required behind the scenes to produce Pride Week. As with prior years, the March Committee and our panel of judges (located at the Reviewing Stand at 5th Avenue and 8th Street) will evaluate the March contingents to determine which best represent the concept of the following March Awards:
Best Use of Theme Award
Most Original Award
Marching Contingent Award
Best Decorated Vehicle Award
Best Musical Contingent Award
