The Asian American Film Lab, Asian CineVision and the Museum of Chinese in America, will be co-hosting a feature screenplay writing competition as part of the 36th Annual Asian American International Film Festival.
The last winning screenplay in this AAIFF competition, MOTEL, directed by Michael Kang, has gone on to become a full-length feature film. The winner will receive a directed reading by Asian American Film Lab Actor Directory actors and feedback from the audience at the Museum of Chinese in America on Aug 1, 2013 and will be a part of the prestigious 36th annual Asian American International Film Festival.
Submit your script(s) and any requests for specific actors from the Actor Directory (noting which character you’d like the actor to portray) by June 14, 2013, for a chance to be seen and heard at AAIFF’13! You may submit to UnfinishedWorks@film-lab.org (please also cc festival@asiancinevision.org). The email subject line must be “AAIFF’13 Screenplay Competition”.

General Guidelines:
1. AAIFF’13 Screenplay Competition is open to all film scripts written by and/or about Asians or Asian Americans.
2. Submitted scripts must be original screenplays and the sole property of the applicant(s).
3. All entries must be in English, or have the English translation.
4. All lengths are welcome. (Recommended length: 70-120 pages)
5. The is no limit to the number of works from one applicant.
6. Screenplays that have previously won at any kind of competition are not eligible.
7. Actors must be cast from the Film Lab’s Actor Directory. *Note: the selected screenwriter will have the opportunity to add 2-3 actors of their choosing to the Directory gratis prior to the reading*
