The Korean Performing Arts Center presents a special performance for family members, the 2nd Music Journey with Daddy, to celebrate Father’s Day on June 16, 2013. This is one of KPAC’s outreach programs where our members can show their talents and support their community. KPAC student members will be on stage with their respective fathers, playing Korean and western music on both traditional and western musical instruments.
In the midst of the urban frenzy that is New York, fathers and their children will create an oasis of calm, celebrating the special relationship between father and child, as well as the unique cultural traditions that have been passed onto younger generations. The music journey is an insight into how cultural traditions from a faraway land can grow and flourish in modern times.
This year, the show will feature a piano and haegeum ensemble, guitar and gayageum ensemble, cello and violin ensemble, and a samulnori performance. There are two special programs, Han-ryang-mu solo dance performance given by a KPAC uncle, and T’ai chi ch’uan performance by a KPAC father with the Arirang song played by geomongo instrument.
Please join this event and enjoy beautiful music and dance performances with your family members. Please bring your loved ones while we celebrate universal values of family and love.
There is a $10 suggested donation at the door. For more information please visit our website: www.kpacnyc.org
