Bringing together an exciting blend of jazz, classical and pop, the Dana Leong Trio is the latest incarnation of Leong’s ever-expansive oeuvre. Leong’s enterprising spirit, prolific compositions and arrangements, and energetic performances have garnered him critical acclaim and wowed audiences around the world.
2012 was a banner year for the Trio. In addition to appearances in New York’s River to River Festival, the Legacy Gala for the Museum of Chinese in New York, and the Fillmore Jazz Festival, they toured internationally for Bound(less), the large scale aerial dance piece by BANDALOOP. The music for Bound(less) was commissioned by the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and in part by Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic. The Trio continues to perform worldwide with BANDALOOP activating and honoring the world’s most famous buildings, skyscrapers, natural spaces and historical sites, ranging from sites such as the Old Post Office in Washington, DC to the Catedral Nacional in Campeche, Mexico. A live shot of their recent DC performance presented by The Kennedy Center, which the Washington Post called “the most daring feat ever performed on a government building,” graces the 2013 cover of the National Endowment for the Arts Guide. In 2012 the Trio and BANDALOOP also headlined the grand opening of Los Angeles’ Grand Park presented by Music Center, performing on the side of City Hall to a crowd of several thousand.
Presented by Arts Brookfield as a part of the River to River Festival 2013. All events at Brookfield Place are sponsored by American Express, Bank of America, Battery Park City Authority and Brookfield.
