Kun Opera singer Qian Yi and Japanese and Okinawan dancer, choreographer, and instructor Sachiyo Ito will co-present a demonstration on gestures and the abstraction and stylization of gestures in acting and dancing. The two artists will also perform an excerpt from a Kun Opera and a Kabuki dance as well as collaborate on a Chinese poem.
Sachiyo Ito’s Salon Series, now in its fifteenth season, is an ongoing program of educational lectures, demonstrations, and performances that deepen one’s knowledge and appreciation of the performing arts of Japan. This unique combination of education and entertainment is held three times a year at Tenri Cultural Institute.
