‘ON THE WATER, FOR THE WATER’
What is City of Water Day?
MWA’s City of Water Day Festival is a free day-long celebration of the world-class potential of the water that surrounds us and brings us together. Held on Governors Island and Liberty State Park in NJ–the event draws thousands of people from throughout the NY-NJ metropolitan region to participate in hundreds of unique, fun, and educational waterfront activities organized by MWA and its 700 Alliance Partners.
On July 20th, 25,000+ people from the Tri-State region will float, sail, ferry, paddle, row, splash, canoe, and kayak their way to beautiful Governors Island in New York Bay, as well as Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ, for the 3rd annual City of Water Day festival.
Additional events will also be hosted by Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance Partners at various ‘In Your Neighborhood’ venues all around the City. Listings of those additional locations will be updated here, periodically.
Festival Highlights include:
* Fun & free boat tours for thousands of participants on historic and educational vessels
* Hundreds of kayakers, rowers, boaters and sailors converging on the island from launch points throughout the region
* Free public kayaking & rowing
* Fishing demonstrations
* A special children’s fair section which also includes children’s, hands-on, waterfront
activities & events
