Position Summary:
This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank, available Fall, 2009. The selected applicant will assume a leadership role in the area of new technologies and digital architecture as applied to the practice of architecture.
The School of Architecture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York is an internationally recognized professional school offering B.Arch, M.Arch and M.S. degrees. The Undergraduate Architecture programs, with over 100 full and part-time faculty members and student body of 550, awards the five year Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Job Responsibilities:
– Teach in the core areas of the curriculum.
– Develop and coordinate courses with a focus on new technologies and digital architecture.
– Advise students.
– Serve on department, school and institute committees.
– Participate in program accreditation activities.
– Participate in outreach efforts and initiatives that include working closely with the program chair to promote interdisciplinary work and sponsorship collaborations related to new and innovative building technologies with academic and corporate partners.
– Perform all other related duties as required.
Salary: and faculty rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications:
Education: A Master’s degree and a professional degree in architecture are required.
Experience: Must have at least five years’ teaching experience at the college level and five years’ professional experience.
Skills: Expertise in digitally based design and its applications in the practice of architecture required.
Other: Must have recognized standing in the field. Favorable consideration will be given to candidates with a distinguished record of teaching, creative achievement in architectural practice or research, and a commitment to innovative design. Registered architect preferred.
