Title: Fashion Design

Position Summary:
Facilitate the design execution of a line that coordinates with the concept and philosophy
***MUST HAVE SKATEBOARD OR SURF DESIGN EXPERIENCE***

Job Responsibilities include:

• Develop a complete understanding of the Skate customer and create a complete commercial line to attract and maximize the purchases of the customer.
• Work with Sales group and balance of MD to ensure assortment is targeted to the Skate customer and adjust the line as necessary.
• Sketch designs in Illustrator (flats).
• Prepare design packages and transfer sketch from Illustrator program.
• Execute presentation boards for monthly meetings.
• Assist in facilitation of all aspects from concept to design and final development of a specific classification.
• Learn raw materials and trims related to a specific classification.
• Assist in all aspects of daily follow-up with external and internal business partners.
• Observe presentation techniques.
• Assist and take direction for preliminary design research.
• Observe, conduct, take notes, and execute changes from fittings daily.
• Review lab dips and trims with Supervisor and send comments to vendors.
• Prepare line sheets and update as necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.

Skills/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.
• 2-5 years related experience in a surf or skateboard focused company such as Billabong, DC Shoes, Famous Stars & Stripes, Hurley
• Must be willing to relocate to NJ/NY metro area
• Ability to act as liaison between many departments: excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks at once while juggling multiple seasons.
• Have basic knowledge of garment construction, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator
