143 Central Ave, Brooklyn 11221
Opening reception August 9th, 2013 (6-10pm) / on view until September 7th.
Low Brow Artique is proud to host Bisco smith’s solo exhibit, World Upside Down. Bisco smith (aka Bisc1) is best known for his graffiti work on walls, as well as his audio and visual work within hip hop culture. world upside Down is a collection of observations, commentary, and attempts to make sense of today’s world—a moment in time where systems are collapsing and social fabrics are shifting. A time when the train of progress continues to gain speed, moving us faster and further into the unknown…
The fifty plus pieces in the collection are a blend of photography and fine art created using a mix of mediums. The grainy black and white imagery combined with subtle grey tone textures are finished with a clean high gloss resin creating both a literal and metaphorical contrast. The artwork is urban in nature transporting viewers over train lines, through abandoned industry, against decaying walls, and into explorations reflecting modern social issues. As a collective montage or as individual images, the artwork serves as a window into a world upside down.
