Slank featuring Late Cambrian
Slank Band is the biggest Rock and Roll band in Indonesia. Their fans, known as Slankers, number in the millions, and they’ve played Sold Out shows all around the world.
Slank was formed in 1983 through a school band at a local high school in Jakarta, which named CSC (Cikini Stone Complex).
Their main founder, Bimo Setiawan (Bim – Bim) and their fellow bandmates often played a number of Rolling Stones songs at school.
The band later changed its name and personnel to SLANK, with Bim – Bim on drums, Erwan on vocals, Bongky on guitars, Denny on bass and Kiki on guitars.
The name SLANK itself was taken from their musical attitude, which was, and is still reckless, ignorant and play with undetailed groove (Slengean in Indonesian).
Late Cambrian is a Brooklyn Indie Alternative Rock band. If The Strokes and Phoenix adopted a rock baby from Elliott Smith and The Arctic Monkeys the baby’s name would be Late Cambrian.
They have won numerous awards on Ourstage, Sonicbids, and Reverbnation, and have had their music placed in The Real World, Married To Jonas and other popular TV shows.
Their music video, “Ryan Gosling” was a hit, having been picked up by BlankTV and THECOOLTV and is now being played Nationally in 26 markets.
Late Cambrian have brought their brand of clever indie alternative to The KahBang Music Festival, The Dewey Beach Music Conference, CMJ and The Popfest.
Their newest album, PEACH has been released in Japan on ThisTime records. Late Cambrian are going on the road opening for Wheatus in Oct 2013.
Sinclarity
It’s often been said that being in a band is like being in a marriage, and the Pennsylvania/Virginia-based alt-rock band Sinclarity is the proverbial match made in heaven.
Within a few short months since finalizing its lineup, Sinclarity had already completed an album – a modern-day classic, eight songs of pure emotive force with immediacy and honesty – and gone from testing its live show to opening for national acts.
The roots of Sinclarity go back to Holmes’ and Besecker’s former band, The Underwater, which Holmes’ formed in 2001 right out of high school. The band went on to release an EP for trendsetting indies Tribunal Records and Lifeforce Records, release an album on the legendary Megaforce Records, record with famed producer David Bendeth and tour the world with some of the biggest bands. Their dreams were all coming true. However, all of the momentum – all that they knew, really – came crashing around them when the band’s lead singer decided to leave the band, leaving Holmes and Besecker with what appeared to be nothing but broken dreams.
It was at this point when things seemed the darkest that Holmes made the decision to simply sit down and write some songs. Unsurprisingly, it all started with those seemingly unfinished
dreams.
In addition to completing an album, Sinclarity had the opportunity to work with award-winning filmmaker Dave Rodriguez. After including several of Sinclarity’s tracks in his feature film “American Bully”, Rodriguez offered to do a video for the track “Wake Up.” Filmed on a rooftop in Brooklyn, the video captures the live intensity of Sinclarity with a stunning view of the New York skyline as a backdrop. With a finished video and album in hand, 2013 looks to be the start of a new dream for Sinclarity.
