Fisher-Price Character Brands is located in bustling downtown Manhattan. Our offices cover two floors in the Barnes & Noble Building on 6th Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets. This area is also known as the Chelsea District or the Toy District and is the home of the International Toy Fair.
Individual will work closely with Mattel, Inc. Senior Counsel, Music & Entertainment in the New York City office. Individual will:
– Act as liaison with music publishers, record companies and/or movie studios requesting music composition and sound recording information, quotes, licenses and/or contracts.
– Review licenses/quotes and prepare comprehensive mark-up and comments based on standard Mattel/Fisher-Price/American Girl/Radica terms and conditions.
– Negotiate standard terms and conditions through to resolution directly with outside parties; will escalate complex issues to Senior Counsel.
– Manage the internal approval process securing signatures as needed and prepare contract summaries of all fully-executed music licenses.
– Manage the internal process with finance department regarding music royalty provisions in fully-executed licenses and ensure that finance has all information necessary to properly pay music licensors
– Manage the internal process with marketing departments to ensure that marketing has all information necessary to get product samples to music licensors
– Manage the internal check request process ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
– Prepare and update Project Status Report on weekly basis ensuring information is up to date and accurate; distribute reports to appropriate team members.
– Establish and maintain a filing system to ensure the protection of original music licenses and backup documentation.
– Complete public domain music clearances and perform research.
– Establish and maintain public domain and music rights databases.
– Handle general administrative duties for music licensing division of the Legal department including filing, faxing, copying and provide key organizational support to the Senior Counsel, Music & Entertainment.
– Arrange and schedule conference call/meetings, reserve conference rooms and/or phone dial-in number.
– Prepare and submit expense reports.
– Prepare, schedule and track mailed and couriered documents.
– Format and review red-lined documents with attention to grammar and spelling.

Education/Skills:
– Bachelors degree or Paralegal Certification
– Minimum of 3-5 years of solid music licensing experience
– Extensive knowledge of music and entertainment licensing issues and transactions (including, without limitation, licensing both synchronization and master uses into video games, merchandise, TV commercials, film, DVDs and extensive promotional uses)
– Strong music licensing negotiation experience and developed relationships with current music licensing professionals at music publishing companies, record companies and/or movie studios
– Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, DeltaView and Databases)
– Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail
– Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships
– Excellent time management with strong attention to detail and follow up skills
– Ability to handle a high volume of work and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
