YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED to the Launch Party for new independent publisher Strangers Gate Books at Upper Manhattan’s top literary bar without a television, Ding Dong Lounge—Lynne Tillman released, read and signed her novel American Genius (Soft Skull Press, 2006) there, among other literary events. SGB Launch will feature a pre-publication reading by Andrew Demetre, author of SGB’s debut literary title, Drinking and Driving in Ürümqi, plus a talk and dialogue with Strangers Gate Books’ special guest and inspirational informal advisor—arts organizer, writer, filmmaker, radio producer, micropress publisher, and editor Veronica Santiago Liu, founder of Word Up! Community Bookshop/Librería Comunitaria, a volunteer-run bookstore and arts space in Washington Heights, publisher of Village Voice Best of New York Winner Fractious Press, co-founder of Washington Heights Free Radio, and acquisitions editor of fiercely independent Seven Stories Press.

Free Admission and Food, Cash Bar w/ Cheap Drinks, Giveaways, a raffle, and riotous tales of world adventure and the sometimes equally riotous process of realizing a finished book from fragmented experience to finished product.
