CALEB YOON:
Caleb Yoon grew up in Connecticut, but now lives in Brooklyn, NY. He began dancing freshman year of high school, focusing on Breaking and Krumping, but later realized, in his senior year, that Hip Hop Choreography and Street Jazz was his passion. During his gap year in NYC, he joined his first dance team, Synchronic Dance Team, a NYU-based team. Pushed by fellow dancers and teammates, Caleb went on to join E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company in its fifth season in 2013. He has also performed as a back-up dancer for renowned Vietnamese singer, Cao Thái Sơn, for the Vietnamese Live Concert at Mohegan Sun. Currently, Caleb is a dancer for E.P.I.C. Motion Dance Company and a Co-Director/Artistic Director for Synchronic Dance Team. He hopes to keep training and improving to further his accomplishments in dance.
JEFF AGUILAR:
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Jeff’s first performance on stage was when he played the Gingerbread Boy in the first grade. Since then, the stage has been home and he would dance as a past time, pretending he was on stage and performing in front of a huge and excited audience. In 2006, he joined Francis Lewis High School’s national-winning unarmed drill team, Patriot Pride, where he learned about synchronization, leadership, and teamwork. Jeff enjoyed exhibition drill, which combined stepping and military precision, and placed fifth and sixth in the nation for a dual exhibition routine in 2007 and 2008. After graduating, he began training in Jazz Funk at Broadway Dance Center and joined DynamiQ Faction the following year where he served as the Director of Operations and then Executive Director. To name a few, Jeff’s performed with DynamiQ at the United Nations, Circle Night Club, and was given the opportunity to open up for America’s Best Dance Crew’s Season 5 champions, Poreotix. He was also featured in Bdubez Foronda’s “Choreo” music video. Currently, he happily dances with EPIC Motion Dance Company, whom he’s danced with at Defining Rhythm 2012 and at two of their annual showcases–one of which he directed a “Femme Fatale” themed-set. He also trained under Rhythm City’s Jake Pesquira’s DANCE, where he was able to breakthrough many thresholds from confidence to capabilities in dance. Jeff also teaches Beginner Level Jazz Funk classes at DC Studio in Flushing, Queens as well as runs his own YouTube Channel, Jaffcid. His most recent projects include directing two performances called “Discourse of Attraction” and “Perils of Love,” choreographing and performing for Cao Thai Son at the Mohegan Sun Arena in 2013, and expanding the Jaffcid brand by creating his first ever clothing line, which is geared for dancers. His vision for career is for everyone to get paid in doing what they love, and he is grateful to not only have it turn out for him, but also to be a stand for others as well.
NIA BAKER
From the small town of Greensboro, North Carolina Nia Baker started dancing at a young age with her church’s praise dance team. Throughout the years she continued to train in ballet, jazz, and African dance classes at both of her performing arts middle schools. However, it wasn’t until she was fifteen that her journey with dance really took off after she saw her first hip hop choreography video by Lyle Beniga on YouTube. She was hooked and soon began to learn as much as possible from videos posted by other professional choreographers. Yet, one day she decided that it wasn’t enough and moved from her small town to one of the world’s dance Mecca’s–New York City. During what would have been her first year of college, she trained heavily in (but not limited to) hip hop under various choreographers, such as Robin Dunn and Mickey Sakai, as well as trained at many different studios throughout New York, including Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey and PMT. She has been a part of Robin Dunn’s F.A.C.E Program, I AM, Synchronic Dance Team, New York University’s IFA Dance Team, Femme Fatal, and is currently a member of EPIC Motion Dance Company. She has performed in various shows such as Ladies of Hip Hop, Pride 5, Columbia University’s RAWCUS and other various events in New York City. She has shared herself as a choreographer with credits including the Mr. Philippines 2013 man pageant, a portion of IFA Dance Teams six-time “Best Modern” winning performance, and a piece for EPIC Motion’s “Reflections” showcase. Recently she has discovered her new love of teaching dance and hopes to share and inspire others as she continues to learn more herself.
HAELIM CHOI:
Haelim (Eileen) Choi served as the lead choreoraphor for artists such as Ju Hyun, Diana, and Naomi and appeared on major South Korean broadcast companies, KBS and SBS. She also performed in several musicals (“Acoustic Love,” “If You Are In Love Just Dance,” and “Hong Gil Dong”) and appeared in the movie, “Finding Kim Jong Wook.” She even took her creative and artistic capabilities and founded her own sneaker wedge line, Wedg3. After receiving her BA in Piano from Guangdong University, Haelim moved to New York and continued her dance training in the International Student Visa Program (ISVP) at Broadway Dance Centerfor two years and most recently, has choreographed and performed at the Mohegan Sun Arena and directed the Atlantic City International Concert. She now continues to direct shows and teaches at DC Studio in Queens.
