WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company (New York):

A sneak preview of “Eternal NOW” by WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company: Acclaimed nationally and internationally, Young Soon Kim’s 34-year career as a choreographer began as a brilliant performer appearing at major festivals and collaborating with music greats (like Dave Brubeck). Kim has choreographed for City Contemporary Dance Company (Hong Kong), Seoul Contemporary Dance Company (Korea) and the St. Gallen Dance Loft (Switzerland) among others. Since founding WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company in 1988, Kim and her company have traversed the globe performing her repertory of 58 original works including: a 60-day tour in Korea, as well as Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, where Ms. Kim interviewed with CNN’s “Inside Asia” which was aired internationally.

Over the last four years, Choreographer Young Soon Kim, Virtuoso/Composer Marco Cappelli and Multimedia Artist David Tirosh and Kate Freer have perfected their collaborative techniques. “Eternal NOW”: a Multi-Media Dance/Theater piece is the fourth and final chapter of a series Kim has worked on since 2010 and an ambitious collaboration with Cappelli’s Acoustic Trio and other artists from a broad, fascinating range of creative disciplines. Kim’s work is hailed as visually stunning and emotionally rich, and she, in collaboration with the ten dazzling performers of WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company make “Eternal NOW” a work of vision and movement language that reveal the inner landscape of human emotion and reaches into the inner territories of the imagination, passion and spirit – creating new expressions of contemporary dance.

A world premiere of Eternal NOW will take place at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM Fisher: June 18-22, 2014). The WAVE RISING SERIES is happy to be able to present a sneak preview of the piece (without multi-media aspect).
