After a sold-out run in September, The Sister Rosettas are back with five more performances. A revival of the rock/pop-punk/cabaret music of world touring MING DYNASTY, last seen on City Stages in 2009 alongside Diana Ross, Ben Harper, and Al Green, now brings new front woman Diana Oh and bassist/songwriter Philippe Arman to the stage. The story of how this new collaboration was formed fuses old songs and new and is led by veterans Eric Miranda, Kole Smith and Matt Harrington.
Two strangers meet on a random corner in Manhattan and a friendship is rapidly formed. Six days later a revival of the rock/pop-punk/cabaret music of MING DYNASTY is born. Mixing songs and storytelling, The Sister Rosettas is part rock concert, part cabaret show, this event will have special opening guest appearances by:
Melissa Lusk (12/5), Anonymous (aka Chris Nunez) (12/6), Lauren Hennessy (12/9), muMs (12/12) and Melissa Li (12/14).
terraNOVA’s Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling is thrilled to be remounting, The Sister Rosettas, “Diana Oh was part of our soloNOVA Arts Festival and truly wowed audiences with her powerful voice and soulful connection to each member of the crowd. Seeing Diana now front a band that is continuing the legacy of Ming Dynasty is an event not to be missed.” The Sisters Rosettas was developed, in part, through IRT Theater’s Residency Program.
Lead Vocals: Diana Oh, Vocals/Lead Guitar: Eric Miranda, Vocals/Guitar: Kole Smith, Vocals/Percussion: Matt Harrington, Bass: Philippe Arman, Creative Director: Jessi D. Hill. Produced by terraNOVA Collective. Part of the New Ohio Theatre’s Producers’ Club 2013.
