Responsibilities
This associate will provide expert database design, development, administration and implementation skills using primarily the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 toolset to manage the needs of the Asset Finance Group’s RMBS and Servicer Quality Teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
– Develop, maintain databases, procedures, ad hoc queries, reports, tools
– Write SQL queries, stored procedures, and DTS/SSIS packages to scrub, cleanse, modify data –
– Optimize and tune SQL statements and databases
– Troubleshoot and resolve database issues
– Perform database management tasks including database infrastructure design, automation of data loads, performance tuning, SQL programming, data manipulation, massage and cleansing.
– Support internal clients by creating data-driven applications and ad hoc queries.
– Define, test, and execute data validation routines
– Perform application program enhancements, troubleshooting and bug fixes as required.
Specific
Support Deal Monitoring Database Querying and Report Generation – Primary
– Provide RMBS analysts with data extracts and reports from the Trustee, loan-level database
– Either develop an internal OLAP system or implement a third-party OLAP solution for loan-level data
Servicer Quality Data Processing – Backup
– Receive raw data from Servicers and turn-around (extract, map, clean, load) within 3 person-days
– Iterate with analysts to troubleshoot and correct errant data from Servicers
– Develop integrated Servicer database and associated advanced servicer reportage
– Automate all components, reports, etc of the Servicer data process that can be automated
– Use JIRA and other project management tools to calculate, manage and improve Servicer process throughput
Other
– Handle ad hoc requests from SQ Team, RMBS analysts and QR&A personnel while staying on schedule with Servicer Data processing and reporting
– Other database projects as required
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
5+ years experience working as a database developer using SQL Server
Clear understanding of the logical and physical database design and data normalization concepts
Expertise in creation and management of databases, tables, views, and stored procedures
Expertise with scripting tools: perl preferred.
Expertise with OLAP technologies, .Net programming, XML
Expertise using data modeling tools, e.g., ER-Studio, Erwin, etc.
Experience with Sybase ASE and IBM DB2 databases a plus
Experience with Moody’s legacy systems (specifically sfg, ratings, and ems databases and PDS) a big plus
Knowledge of Mortgage Backed Securities a big plus
Some statistics background and /or training a plus
Proven troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze complex tasks and propose viable solutions for both strategic and tactical development initiatives
Ability to work well in individual, team and high pressure situations
Very good oral and written communications skills
