JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the coordinated integration and maintenance of broadcasting facilities and IT technologies for the support and advancement of Emmis NY Radio business systems as well as terrestrial and digital media distribution systems. Reports to the Chief Engineer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·         Manage day to day operations of all radio broadcasting studio systems and IT facilities

·         Support On-Air radio systems and related technologies i.e. Internet Streaming, Video, Text Messaging, Other

·         Work with station and corporate management as well as local technology team to develop innovative and strategic plans in the broadcast and digital distribution environments as well as information technology integration

·         Experience managing Windows 2003 Server, MS-SQL and Exchange 2003 in a complex LAN and WAN computing environment

·         Maintain Brightstor data backup, recovery systems and processes

·         Enforce corporate computing policy and procedure for both Emmis NY Radio end users and external vendors to be Sarbanes-Oxley 404 IT Compliant

·         Trouble-shoot and repair end-user computer hardware and software, including network servers, network operating systems, PC’s and PC applications, LAN cabling, system security and virus protection

·         Maintenance of e-mail post offices.

·         Advanced TCPIP and Internet networking knowledge required

·         Technical project management

·         Microsoft server based network security, network rights, enforcement of    naming standards, maintenance of login scripts and network software upgrades

·         Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and a good attitude focused on quality customer service

·         Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including computer software and hardware with a focus on Microsoft Windows server, Media and Entertainment Technologies, Radio Broadcasting and workstation products

·         Working knowledge of RF transmission facilities preferred

·         Working knowledge or willing to learn radio regulatory rules, regulations and compliance requirements

·         Maintain computer system documentation for applications installed and devices operating within the Emmis NY Radio production LAN.

·         Available to work various hours and days including some weekends and holidays. On-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failure

·         Work with market managers to lead the radio station operations and strategy planning

·         Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers

·         Candidates with supervisory experience are preferred.

·         Maintain preventive maintenance program for computer systems and sustain operational best practices

·         Maintain a clean and organized work area

·         Good verbal and written communications skills

·         Ability to effectively participate and/or lead small project teams

·         Ability to work with little supervision and effectively set daily and project priorities

·         Other duties as directed

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in computers or related technology preferred. Minimum

3 years experience in IT systems administration related to included technologies.
Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets technical procedures, equipment operating instructions, and FCC regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Able to apply mathematical skill when using oscilloscopes, voltmeters, distortion analyzer, and other provided instrumentation. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as binary, hexadecimal, fractions, percentages, ratios, and logarithms to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Excellent mix of computer knowledge both digital and analog electronics. Knowledge of FM transmitters and receivers, antennas and other broadcast equipment a plus. Ability to multi-task and work long hours. Ability to respond in a timely “on-call” capacity.

Certificates, Licenses, other Requirements

Relative Microsoft software and Networking certifications preferred.

Web technology certification a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of non-ionizing radiation. The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate.
