For your movie-watching pleasure this holiday season, be sure to check out An Animated World: Celebrating Five Years of GKIDS Classics, two weeks of glorious animated filmmaking from GKIDS, distributors of some of the world’s most stunning and entertaining hand-made animated movies. From December 20 through January 2 at IFC Center, the retrospective will present 18 groundbreaking films from Japanese directors Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Mamoru Hosoda, and Koji Masunari.
The Japanese films to be screened for the remainder of the festival are Summer Wars, From Up on Poppy Hill, and Welcome to the Space Show, plus 25th Anniversary presentations of the Studio Ghibli masterpieces My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies (the latter for adults only).
