Primary Purpose:
The prototype patternmaker is accountable for the quality and execution of samples throughout all stages of the development process up to Design’s presentation, while interpreting the Designer’s aesthetic intent.
The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Patternmaking to:
- Work with team manager to discuss and prioritize assigned projects.
- Work with team manager and respective designer to fully understand new style construction details and proportions.
- Provide input to designer on construction challenges and recommends alternatives.
- Create working patterns and salpas (Protos) as necessary. Reviews salpa (Protos) with team and with designer.
- Create prototype samples from Design Card specifications and concept drawings.
- Resolve product construction issues by identifying and recommending alternatives.
- Create patterns using Optitex software and deliver said patterns by the PDT date to facilitate transfer to factories.
- Create and cut prototype patterns from designer’s drawing and specifications.
- Provide full set of cut patterns to sample room manager.
- Provide direction and technical support to sample room direct labor during the execution of salpas and/or actual prototypes.
- Collaborate with Technical Designer to deliver presentation samples on time.
- Work with Technical Designer and/or Designer to review sample quality.
- Prepare complete and accurately labeled digital patterns with Optitex software for transmission to vendor factories.
- Complete special projects for Visual Merchandising and PR as requested by team manager.
