Vital EXP is looking to hire an experienced Retail Marketing Director in New York, NY for growing our Strategic Planning Group. The Retail Marketing Director will join a diverse and expanding agency working with some of the largest national and international clients. We strongly emphasize the development your own ideas and initiatives. We are looking to find persons on the Manager and/or Director level who has experience with Retail or Shopper Marketing in their background or those in general management positions that have a superior understanding of shopper marketing, and how retail marketing can contribute to the brand, share and category growth.
The Retail Marketing Director will be responsible for collecting and analyzing shopper and retailer insights via qualitative and quantitative research, providing insights into attitudes and behaviors of shoppers in the retail environment as well as overall trends in retail marketing, communications and promotional strategies. The Director will also be responsible for activating promotions as well as archiving and disseminating key retail and shopper insights throughout the Agency.
Ideal Candidates must:
· Possess a strong understanding of the barriers to adopting shopper marketing as a strategic element; have the ability to overcome those barriers
· A strategic understanding of competitive advantage knowing purchasing decisions are made in-store.
· Well versed in key aspects of Marketing-at-Retail.
· Be able to lead the strategic discussions regarding the value and direction your shopper marketing effort should take.
· Be able to put together a shopper marketing program for a variety of clients (across business disciplines).
Requirements
- A minimum 5 years of client or agency experience preferred. Shopper Marketing or Retail experience, ideally including mass merchandise including electronics, cosmetic/drug, food and beverage, mass, etc..
- Proactive with ideas, diligent follow through and must be able to plan and meet deadlines.
- Experience conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research and the ability to identify actionable insights through data synthesis and original conceptualization.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Excellent writing and presentation skills required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Travel may be required
