886 Pacific Street, Between Underhill & Washington Avenues Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11238
Presented by Tateo Sound & Brooklyn Raga Massive
Award-winning composer Dana Leong leads a quartet of cello, tabla, sitar, and electronics for an entrancing concert in one very intimate evening at Art Cafe/Gureje, exploring the healing power of meditative sounds from different traditions joining forces in a union towards oneness with the earth. Space is very limited so please arrive respectfully early!
Hailing from Japan, China, Haiti, and India—all countries recently affected by earthquakes, also known as “tectonic disruptions”—the musicians in the quartet come together in a unique collaboration to remind us of our shared destiny and of the need for our compassionate and careful stewardship of Mother Earth. The soulful vocalization of the cello, the hypnotic droning of the sitar, the imaginative weaving of electronic soundscapes, and the soothing rhythms of the tabla will mix together to produce a unique atmosphere of contemplation, harmony and healing as the sun sets on the Manhattan skyline.
TEKTONIK is:
Dana LeonG – cello, electronics
Val-Inc – electronics, turntables
Neel Murgai – sitar
Sameer Gupta – tabla
