On Saturday, May 10th, 2014, Emmy-winning television producer, successful entrepreneur, best-selling author and humanitarian Yue-Sai Kan will be awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for her outstanding contributions to American society as a Chinese immigrant.
Hosted by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (“NECO”), the 28th Annual Ellis Island Medal of Honor Ceremony will be held on Ellis Island at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Gala Dinner in the historic Great Hall.
The Ellis Island Medal of Honor ranks among the nation’s most prestigious awards. Since its founding in 1986, more than 1,800 distinguished and diverse Americans have been presented with the accolade including: six Presidents of the United States, former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, Generals Norman Schwarzkopf and Colin Powell, Muhammad Ali, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Walters, Mike Wallace, Quincy Jones, Renee Fleming, just to name a few.
