Lang Lang Visit Boston Arts Academy for his Lang Lang’s Keys of Inspiration One Year Anniversary
Back to Category Print this page

For the Boston Arts Academy students, this Tuesday will be an extraordinary special day because international reknowned piano superstar Lang Lang will visit Boston Arts Academy to examine his foundation: Lang Lang’s Keys of Inspiration.

Often referred to as the “Athens of America,” Boston, Massachusetts is a world-class center of arts and culture. Yet the vast majority of its public school children have very limited opportunities to experience the joy of playing classical music. Not only is it absent from the classroom, but most students come from low-income households and lack the resources to pursue formal study in music appreciation and performance outside the classroom as well. Lang Lang International Music Foundation together with Boston Arts Academy (BAA), Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts, is excited to propose a public school partnership that will establish a replicable pathway into the world of classical music for 9-18 year olds. Boston Arts Academy has developed Lang Lang’s Keys of Inspiration, a program that will ignite the passion for classical music in the next generation and serve as a model for other urban public schools around the country and the world.

Boston Arts Academy is committed to increasing access to serious musical study for Boston’s youth by creating an elementary to high school pathway for classical music instruction. Lang Lang International Music Foundation in partnership with the BAA and Orchard Gardens, a public K-8 school in Boston, has created piano labs for elementary, middle and high school students. Lang Lang’s Keys of Inspiration will cultivate a culture of enthusiasm for classical music in the schools, so that the students can become tomorrow’s participants, audience members, and performers. With the support of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, BAA and Orchard Gardens will expand and strengthen the love and practice of classical music by building a classical piano feeder program. Working together with the Foundation, the schools will build a successful chamber music program culminating at the high school level.
