Union Square Greenmarket – north end of Union Square Park
17th Street and Union Square West, New York NY
Snapping up your weekly supply of farm fresh eggs and ramps can be difficult when things like work and hangovers get in the way of daytime visits to the greenmarket. Luckily, the thoughtful crew at GrowNYC began a series of Night Markets a few years back, and this Friday marks the first Union Square edition of the season! Instead of the usual early morning-to-early afternoon hours, the market opens from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., including the farms selling their goodies as well as local restaurants serving dishes for on-site consumption. Oh—and booze!
In addition to stocking up on raw ingredients for home, sup on Spring Pea Panzanella salad from ‘wichcraft; Moroccan Spiced Goat with Greenmarket Salad and a Honey Ramp Vinaigrette from Casa Mono; Smoked Ricotta Toast with Garlic Scape Pesto and Radish Salad, Basil Pudding with Strawberry Granola Bar from Northern Spy; or other special dishes from Print Restaurant, Rouge Tomate and The Fourth. Dishes will be priced between $7 and $10 with the option to purchase beer, wine and hard cider inside a beer garden erected just for the evening.
