The Bacon and Beer Classic Comes to Citi Field
Back to Category Print this page

Move over baseball…make way for two other American classics as bacon and beer take center stage at the home of the New York Mets this summer. What could be more American than beer and bacon at the ball park?

Cannonball Productions brings the Bacon and Beer Classic (baconandbeerclassic.com) to Citi Field for a unique doubleheader on July 26. The Brunch session runs from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m., followed by an Evening session from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fans can attend one – or both – but need a ticket for each session. VIP ticket-holders will be admitted one hour earlier…an extra hour of beer and bacon!

A one-of-a-kind event, the Bacon and Beer Classic at Citi Field is part of a national series of events hosted by major league baseball stadiums across the country. Fans can get a taste of history as they walk through the stadium sampling craft beers and special bacon-inspired treats prepared by local chefs. There’ll also be live music to dance to, interactive games to bring out the inner kid in all, and plenty of cooking demonstrations and beer schools where everyone – from expert to novice – will learn a thing or two about bacon and beer.

“This certainly won’t be a run-of-the-mill experience for guests. The Bacon and Beer Classic brings together the best in local food, brews, and entertainment,” says Cannonball Productions and Bacon and Beer Classic founder Kate Levenstien. “Because New Yorkers are such die-hard sports fans and so knowledgeable about craft beer and gourmet food, we’re thrilled to be hosting our next event at Citi Field in July.”

The starting lineup for New York’s event is strong, and continues to grow. Already, more than 80 area restaurants and breweries have signed on, with each brewery serving at least wo of its most celebrated brews. Restaurant chefs are being challenged to prepare their most delectable bacon-inspired dishes. Attendees can expect to taste several bacon classics and bacon creations they’ve never seen (or tasted) before.

To keep track of all the tasty treats, guests can download a mobile application that not
only lets them vote for their favorites, but provides useful, interactive features for use
during the event. After each session, votes will be tabulated and awards presented to
restaurants and breweries.

Cannonball Productions ensures the experience is local by partnering with businesses and groups that provide the best the area has to offer, including D’Artagnan, its gourmet bacon provider. The event’s charity partner is Citymeals-on-Wheels (citymeals.org), which unites volunteers from the Greater New York City area. Citymeals-on-Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to New York’s homebound elderly, last year delivering two million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to 18,000 frail and aged residents.

The Bacon and Beer Classic is an all-inclusive event, with guest receiving a souvenir Bacon and Beer Classic cup. General admission tickets are $59 each. VIP experience tickets are available and provide access to a variety of exclusive privileges, including, but not limited to: one hour-early entrance, access to VIP areas on the warning track and inside the dugouts, and exclusive brew tastings.
