STORIES FROM TOHOKU
STORIES FROM TOHOKU documents the lives of several survivors of the worst disaster to hit Japan since Hiroshima: the March 2011 triple disaster in the Tohoku region. It also follows the members of the first Japanese American delegation (including Olympic figure-skater Kristi Yamaguchi), sent to help them rebuild the devastated region. As the Tohoku residents deal with the fallout from a tsunami, earthquake and nuclear crisis, the audience is reminded of the Japanese will to persevere in the face of overwhelming circumstances, to not just survive but to flourish, and to believe in the indomitable spirit of endurance in the midst of tragedy.
