Korean Performing Arts Center in Midtown Manhattan presents the 4th Korean Traditional Instrument Workshop from July 14 to July 18, with 5 sessions. KPAC has offered this workshop each year to give students a great opportunity to learn more about Korean culture and arts through traditional musical instruments. This workshop aims to inform and disseminate Korea traditional culture and arts in mainstream America. In particular, we are excited to offer this opportunity to students who have never experienced learning Korean traditional instruments, or adults who are interested in traditional music but do not have the time or opportunities. The students will learn popular Korean folk songs with the traditional instruments, gayageum (Korean traditional 12-stringed zither), haegeum (Korean traditional 2-stringed fiddle), janggu (Korean traditional hourglass drum), buk (Korean traditional barrel drum), and Daegeum (Korean traditional transverse bamboo flute). Specially, Pansori, a Korean traditional storytelling musical genre, is a new session we will offer this year. On the last day of the workshop, the organization will offer students a completion certificate. Participants of all skill levels are welcome (from beginner to expert, from kids to adults).
RSVP is required!
