Shoko is a distinguished official calligrapher from one of the most renowned high Zen temple, Kencho-ji, Kamakura, Japan. Among the best calligraphers in Japan, she is well-known to focus on the origin of Japanese ink expressions – the real meaning of Black and White. Otogizoshi is a group of a few hundreds of narratives from mostly 15th century in Japan and Shoko features three stories from them to show how Japanese ink art describes invisible world beyond language. This exhibition is not only for the people who understand the Japanese ancient language but more for those who want to explore deep place where language became arts.
