For this talk, Ruey-Shiann Shyu has invited Taiwanese curator Chun-chi Wang to discuss his work and will present a selection of projects, including the work “One Kind of Behavior” currently on shown at the Bronx museum.
Using these few examples, talk will examine the particularities that have to be considered when sound art exhibitions or projects with sound material are exhibited.
The sound distances us from the visual characteristics of the space. Through the use of sound, spectators will be taken from the particular conditions under which they perceived, beyond sound and the visual, to an experience, which again tends to be cognitive. Sound installations and sound sculptures allow the visitor to leave and come back at will.
However, artist’s work share the sound and spatial imagination, and empirical experience.
