In an effort to continue providing tools and resources for students to better equip themselves in their pursuit of higher education, McDonald’s partners with Clara C, singer and songwriter, and Jessica Qu, RMHC/ASIA scholarship recipient, to allow students to speak face-to-face with the inspiring guests at the upcoming McDonald’s Education Workshop. The workshops will be held at:

Saturday, September 27 – Chodae Church (119 Rockland Ave., Northvale, NJ 07647)
Sunday, September 28 – Flushing Town Hall (137-35 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11354)

“We continue to receive positive feedback from students and parents alike who attended these Education Workshops across the country,” said Vivian Chen, Director of Ethnic Marketing, McDonald’s USA. “Students find inspirations from the guest speakers and we hope to continue to be that resource to encourage Asian-American students to realize their potential and recognize their endless possibilities.”

The 2014 McDonald’s Distinguished Speaker Series include Aditi Kinkhabwala, Arden Cho, Clara C, the Fung Brothers, Hyun Huh and Nina Davuluri who will tour the various workshops throughout the country. The diverse panel celebrates achievements from Asian Pacific American individuals working in unique fields. McDonald’s recognizes that each student is gifted differently and encourages students to pursue their passion and strive for success. In addition, McDonald’s new Scholar Speaker Series brings in former scholarship recipients to share with the audience their experiences and tips on the scholarship application process, college life and career aspirations.

The interactive game at the McDonald’s booth engages students in a memorable way to learn about the six critical criteria in college admission. In addition to the commonly-known criteria of grades, test scores and class rank, students should not overlook the importance of recommendations, extracurricular involvement and demonstrated interest to the desired school. Students will also have a chance to speak with representatives from various colleges and obtain scholarship information.

McDonald’s is a founding member of APIASF (Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund) and provides scholarships specifically for Asian-Americans through RMHC®/ASIA. Applications will be available early fall, 2014, at www.rmhc.org.
