Savoring Taiwan Vegetarian Cuisine at Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel’s Deluge Restaurant

Taiwan is internationally renowned for its culinary arts, which has been very much trumpeted by the western foodies. This fall, hosted by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in New York and Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel and co-hosted by China Airlines, together partnering up with award-winning Taiwanese chefs from the acclaimed Easy House Restaurant to present “Savoring Taiwan Vegetarian Cuisine,” a special tasting event at the Deluge Restaurant utilizing the freshest vegetarian ingredients transported over from Taiwan. The event is dedicated to promoting Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine internationally as well as appealing to the American public for their interest in learning more about the Taiwanese vegetarian culinary culture.

Among the world famous Taiwanese cuisines, vegetarian food is especially satisfying for tourists’ taste buds. This year, CNN published “10 things Taiwan does better than anywhere else,” with the well-known historical treasures in the National Palace Museum, National Health Insurance, extensive free Wi-Fi hotspots coverage, Night Markets and themed restaurants on the fascinating list. CNN describes Taiwan as “one of the world’s most vegetarian-friendly destinations, where it offers approximately 6,000 restaurants serving an impressive variety of delicious vegetarian fare to feed the 10% of the country that shun meat”. According to Mr. Thomas Chang, Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau in New York, based on the 2013 Annual Survey Report on Visitors Expenditure and Trends in Taiwan, it indicated that breathtaking sceneries, cuisine, shopping and Taiwanese Culture, custom and tradition are the major factors attracting tourists visiting Taiwan. However, when it comes to the most memorable impression of Taiwan, the answers are strong human touch (53%) and delicious cuisine (43%). Furthermore, “By hosting the Savoring Taiwan Vegetarian Cuisine with the Sheraton and Easy House Restaurant, we hope to attract more American tourists to visit Taiwan, and to explore the charm of Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine,” said Mr. Thomas Chang.

The four mouth-watering days of “Savoring Taiwan Vegetarian Cuisine” takes place at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel’s Deluge Restaurant for a limited time only. The public will get to taste specialty dishes including Mushrooms and Truffle Rice, Portuguese-style Spaghetti, and Fragrant Sautéed Hedgehog Mushroom paired with the famous freshly blended Taiwanese Vegetable & Fruit Energy Juice available from October 18th – 21st.
