Pouring Ribbons
225 Ave B, 2nd Floor (at East 13th Street)
Young China Watchers New York is delighted to invite you to our inaugural event with Stephanie Kleine-Ahlbrandt, who will be speaking about China’s bolder foreign policy under Xi Jinping and the implications for US-Asia strategy. She will speak for around 20 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of Q&A, and then relaxed drinks.
Given there is no charge for attendance, we strongly encourage people to drink and eat heartily, as a favor to our kind hosts who have provided us with the private space at Pouring Ribbons.
Stephanie Kleine-Ahlbrandt is the former Director of Asia-Pacific Programs at the United States Institute for Peace. From 2008-2013, Kleine-Ahlbrandt established and managed the Beijing office of the International Crisis Group, engaging in research, analysis and promotion of policy prescriptions on the role of China in conflict areas around the world and in its relations with neighboring countries.
Kleine-Ahlbrandt worked as an International Affairs Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that she worked for the United Nations for a decade where she focused on the African continent and served as Officer-in-Charge of the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, Kleine-Ahlbrandt was seconded by the U.S. Department of State to the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, investigated genocide and other human rights violations for the United Nations in Rwanda (1994-1995), and worked with the Legal Affairs Directorate of the Council of Europe.
Kleine-Ahlbrandt serves on the Young China Watchers’ Board of Advisors.
