Museum of City New York
1220 FIFTH AVENUE, NY, NY 10029
For the last decade, Taiwanese-born photographer Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao has created a unique visual census of New York City’s five boroughs in his composite panoramas which combine hundreds, sometimes thousands, of images taken over the course of a single day. Join Liao as he sits down with Jody Quon, New York magazine’s Photography Director, to talk about how he makes his hyper-real cityscapes, the painterly impulses behind them, and Liao’s attempts to play with time and push the limits of photography. Book signing to follow.
Co-sponsored by the Taipei Cultural Center of New York, SVA MFA Photography, Video and Related Media, and Aperture Foundation.
Free for Museum members; $12 for students/seniors; $16 for general public.
