QEDC has decided to hire a part time Mandarin Small Business Advisor in order to meet its organizational goals. Do you have what it takes?
The person will report to the Director of Business Services and assist with all parts of programming such as, but not only:
• Help businesses to become Certified Home Improvement Contractors by taking our training.
• Helping businesses to submit their MWBE paperwork to the State and City of New York.
• Assist with all aspects of our workshop series.
• Data entry and reconciliation.
• Help with the ongoing digital and paper grant reporting requirements.
• Attend ongoing workshops and seminars as directed.
• Must be able and willing to travel throughout Queens and NYC on occasion, willing to follow instructions and carry out tasks to completion.
Training will be provided for this role to eventually provide business advisory services to our client base. You will become proficient with:
• Business Registration, Permit & License Acquisition, Business Planning, and Loan Packaging.
• Conducting presentations, trainings, and live workshops to promote the QEDC or teach business development.
• Providing direct assistance to clients looking to start or grow their business.
• Assessing, documenting, and synthesizing information about participating businesses to inform the provision of appropriate services and classroom education.
• Managing relationships with participating businesses to proactively address business needs
This is a fantastic opportunity for a go-getter that prioritizes completing daily work requirements while learning the ropes and building relationships with various stakeholders within and outside of the QEDC organization.
Professional Dress Required
Hours: Part-Time (Monday / Wednesday / Friday; some weekends and/or evenings) 21+hrs/week
Hourly Compensation based on experience and qualifications.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
• Associate’s degree required or currently enrolled in an Associate’s program.
• Work experience or completed internship is desired
• Comfortable with modern technology and basic social media
• Basic experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Willing to learn and engage in business consulting and event organizing
• Willing to interact with a diverse set of businesses people around Queens
• Willing to follow instructions and see all assigned tasks to completion as directed
• Ability to take initiative and search for tasks between project assignments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to write clearly and concisely
• Must be fluent in English and Mandarin
