Winter is around the corner and the Madison Square Park Conservancy is gearing up for its magical holiday celebration. On December 9th join us in celebrating as we honor over 100 years of holiday tree tradition in Madison Square Park. Festivities start at 3:30pm with the countdown to the illumination of the Tree of Light beginning at 5pm. Free activities include a horticultural workshop as Gardener Steph leads a Red Twig Dogwood planting. We’re also hosting Reading Rangers story time, with readings of two books provided by Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, including Rachel Bright’s Love Monster and the Perfect Present and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer®: The Classic Story. There will also be plenty of free festive entertainment, such as the New School Jazz Quartet, performers from Motown the Musical, The New York Life Singers, and family favorite, Audra Rox. Taste of Home adds to the Mad. Sq. Holiday festivities by creating Gingerbread Boulevard, a one-of-a-kind collection of three life-sized Gingerbread houses. Each of the three houses celebrates a favorite holiday flavor: Peppermint Place, Cocoa Cottage, and Cinnamon Shack. Stop by to see them for yourself – and even vote for your favorite! The City of Strasbourg, France, has collaborated with Madison Square Park Conservancy to enhance the tree ornamentation with holiday bulbs made of hand-blown glass and gold wire. Lastly, free holiday treats will abound with Hill Country Chicken bringing Apple Bites and Apple Cider, SD26 Restaurant and Wine Bar sharing Pappa Pomodoro (tomato soup), and Frittering Away providing Hot Apricot Ginger Lemonade and Strawberry Basil Lemonade.
