LIE SANGBONG opens its first international retail store in New York, located on 30 Gansevoort Street, New York, NY 10014.
The opening of the LIE SANGBONG New York store is the next step in LIE SANGBONG’s strategic commitment to an increasing the brand’s global presence, with a concentration on the US market. After more than a decade of showing in Paris, in February of 2014 LIE SANGBONG debuted the Fall/Winter 2014 collection during New York Fashion Week. The 1,900 square foot space, located in New York City’s Meatpacking District, is LIE SANGBONG’s first store outside of Korea, where the brand currently operates 19 mono-brand boutiques.
Mr. Lie, who established LIE SANGBONG in 1985, believes that fashion, art, and architecture are inextricably linked. The LIE
SANG BONG New York boutique is a lifestyle concept store aimed to visually echo his philosophy. The store features his women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections alongside a curated selection of exclusive items, including product collaborations with Franklin Planner, Limited Edition Korea, and Haengnam Chinaware.
“I wanted to create a concept store that would merge fashion, art, and lifestyle products,” says Mr. Lie. “Everything is hand-selected, carefully curated, and complementary. It’s an opportunity for me to share my inspirations and passions, all of which influence my designs, and offer a glimpse into the world of the LIE SANGBONG woman.”
Divided into three separate yet harmonious spaces, the store is designed to emphasize the different elements of the brand philosophy: LIE SANGBONG collection, LIE collection, and BLANK SPACE, a contemporary art gallery featuring the work of emerging and established visual artists.
