Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio St. Paul is full of drama, action, intrigue, murderous plots, and miracles. The oratorio tells the story of the conversion of Saul, later known as the apostle Paul. It consists of three dramatic sections: the martyrdom of St. Stephen, Saul’s conversion, and Paul’s later life spreading the gospel and the creation of the Christian church at Ephesus. Conflict and devotion are portrayed through big choral fugues. This performance will be sung in the original German with English supertitles.
